Description
The minor in anthropology provides courses that explore human variation across time and space through the subfields of archaeological, biological, and cultural anthropology. It is intended for students in other majors who wish to supplement their study with the perspectives unique to anthropology. Upper-level courses are structured to allow students to examine the content of each subfield in greater depth. A minor in anthropology is excellent preparation for further study in any discipline that requires ability to understand and deal with other cultures, for example, teaching, counseling, business, medicine, law, or communications.
The Minor is comprised of 18 credits and can be easily tailored to complement a student's major in another field.
Admission to the Program
Any undergraduate student can declare this minor.
Program Requirements
TWO introduction courses (6 credits) selected from:
- ANT 101 The Human Condition
- ANT 201 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
- ANT 202 Introduction to Archaeology
- ANT 203 Introduction to Biological Anthropology
- ANT 256 Introduction to Forensic Anthropology
FOUR upper division (300-499) undergraduate elective courses in anthropology selected in consultation with the departmental advisor
