Description
Sociology explores how our lives, behaviors, and identities are shaped by our ties to others, from intimate spheres to global ones. Completing the Sociology minor gives you insight into many facets of social life, including topics as diverse as sport, health, race & ethnicity, food, gender, education, and human rights. Students completing the minor in Sociology learn fundamental concepts of the discipline and how they apply to many areas of our lives.
Admission to the Program
Any undergraduate student can declare the minor in sociology.
Program Requirements
The minor consists of 18 total credit hours in sociology:
- SOC 100 Introduction to Sociology
- 15 credits of electives in sociology courses
Total Number of Credits: 18
At least 9 of the required 18 credits must be completed at Brockport in order to satisfy the residency requirement. Electives should be chosen based on student interest and career goals, in consultation with your sociology advisor.
