Description
Economics is the study of behaviors of market participants. The minor in economics provides students with an overview of the fundamental concepts of the discipline. When combined with an appropriate major, the minor in economics is excellent preparation for students who are planning to take the CFA, CMA and CPA exams.
Admission to the Program
Any undergraduate student may declare this minor.
Program Requirements
All students pursuing the minor in economics are bound by the policies, terms, and conditions prescribed for study in the School of Business and Management.
The minor in economics consists of 18 credits outlined below. A minimum of 9 credits of course work must be completed at Brockport. A student's cumulative GPA in the Brockport courses used to satisfy requirements of the minor must be at least 2.0
Required Courses for all students in the minor:
- ECN201 Principles of Microeconomics
- ECN202 Principles of Macroeconomics
- ECN302 Intermediate Macroeconomics
- Students must take ONE of the following courses; students may not count both courses toward the minor.
- ECN301 Intermediate Microeconomics
- ECN305 Managerial Economics
Additional Requirements for all majors: students must take two courses from the following. Courses other than these below may be considered only with the approval of the Department Chair for the Department of Accounting, Economics, & Finance.
